As Shakespeare once wrote, “Some men are born with greatness, some men achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” This is true in many cases, and it is particularly true when it comes to the raw talent of Eric Chang. Born in Indonesia in 1990, Eric has had more brilliant career experiences and opportunities than most men nearing retirement. At his young age it is already evident that he is a photographer who was born with clear talent, has been achieving such greatness in his field that is it evident and most would agree: when it comes to photography, greatness has been thrust upon him.

The arts have always played a central role in Eric’s life; as a child he learned and experimented with sculpting and ceramics at his parent’s ceramic factory. While he displayed obvious talent in the area, when he was introduced to photography when he was only fifteen, a star was born.

While he may have dabbled in photography for a few years, it was not until December 2006 that Eric began to seriously pursue photography as a hobby and more importantly; a future career. He attributes this to the influence of Indra Leonardi, an Indonesian and world’s master and “fellow” photographer. Since then, his main focus has been in portraiture, fashion and commercial photography.

Eric began volunteering to take pictures of various events and concerts. His first project was photographing the Twilite Orchestra. Since then his schedule has been packed with taking pictures of different concerts, events and significant happenings throughout the country, and surrounding countries.

Eric has also been called upon to develop portfolios of personal portraits of famous Indonesian figures – from musicians, to movie stars, scientist, doctor, fashion gurus and even photographers.

Some of these people include, but are not limited to: 3 Diva, Addie MS, Indra Leonardi,

Luna Maya, Dominique Agisca Diyose, Nicholas Saputra and Dr. Eka Julianta Wahjoepramono.

Eric is extremely accomplished for someone of his age, yet he is continually working on furthering his career and opportunities. He is a prime example of someone who was born great and is achieving greatness daily and the world can do nothing but sit back, watch and appreciate.
